While our alumni are out there exploring the world and making their own marks, we've been busy making Concordia even better for the next generation of students. Exciting campus improvements are underway, and we'd love to show you what's new when you visit!
One of the most exciting additions this year was the completion of a new playground behind the Elementary School building. This space has already become a favorite for students and provides another safe and engaging outdoor area for play and exploration. Concordia also recently completed new throwing cages for Track and Field, helping improve both safety and training opportunities for student athletes.
Looking ahead to this summer, Concordia will begin construction on two additional playground spaces designed specifically for Early Childhood and Elementary students. These playgrounds will be built in the current tennis court area between the Intermediate and Lower buildings and will provide age-appropriate outdoor learning and activity spaces for students.
Additional summer projects include expanding several classrooms on Intermediate Building Floor 2 and adding a brand-new classroom space to better support student learning and program growth. These updates are designed to create more functional and flexible learning environments for both students and teachers.
At the same time, planning and construction efforts continue on Concordia’s future Performing Arts and Aquatics Center project. The current focus is on earth excavation and removal, as well as the installation of steel supports for the excavation. Relevant teachers are working closely with the design team, project management team, and prospective vendors to discuss various requirements and configurations for the new building.
In March, our High School Applied Learning Engineering class stepped onto the construction site to learn from the professionals about how large-scale construction projects are planned and executed (Read here for more).
This exciting facility will include a swimming pool, theater, black box performance space, and new music, choir, and art rooms designed to support student creativity and performance opportunities for years to come.
Can't wait to welcome the new building next summer!
These projects reflect Concordia’s continued investment in creating spaces where students can learn, grow, perform, compete, and connect as a community. Don't forget to check out the new spaces when you visit next time!
