Alumni Stories

Beneath the quiet surface of the ocean, a young Selena Morse discovered not only its beauty but also her deepest connection to the wider world. What began as a love for scuba diving would later surface as a driving mission: to become a passionate advocate for sustainability. Now, as a graduating senior at Arizona State University, she has completed her Honors Thesis a year early—a project that included a podcast series on menstrual equity, which earned her the ASU Barrett Gold Standard Award for Community Service.

And get this—the award-winning thesis was a continuation of work Selena first began in a high school club at Concordia.

Selena also acknowledged Ms. LeeAnne Lavender, thanking her for ongoing mentorship from high school to university.
