Our first-ever Seoul Alumni Meet-Up was more than a reunion. It was a reflection of the lasting bonds Concordia builds, and a reaffirmation of our commitment to helping every student thrive long after graduation.
What a milestone it was. In a city known for its academic excellence and ambition, members of the Concordia community gathered in Seoul for our very first Alumni Meet-Up, and the warmth in the room was immediate.
Hosted by Head of School Dr. Eric Semler, the afternoon brought together nearly 20 alumni, some reconnecting after years apart, others meeting for the first time despite sharing the same hallways. Laughter came easily, stories from school days were told and retold, and new friendships formed across graduating classes. It was a reminder that the Concordia community doesn't end at graduation. It simply grows.
That same week, Dr. Semler was joined by High School Principal Ms. Laura Berntson and counselor Mr. Oliver Turay for visits to some of South Korea's most distinguished institutions: Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University, collectively known as the SKY universities, as well as KAIST, the country's leading science and technology university. These are schools where academic expectations are high, competition is fierce, and the students who earn a place there have worked extraordinarily hard to do so.
Concordia has had the privilege of seeing our own graduates walk through their gates.
These visits were intentional. By meeting directly with university admissions teams, our leadership gains a deeper understanding of the pathways, expectations, and preparation that help students from schools like Concordia not just gain admission, but genuinely succeed once they arrive.
During the university visits, the team also had the joy of reconnecting with Concordia graduates now studying at Yonsei University and KAIST. Seeing our alumni thriving in these rigorous academic environments, confident, curious, and flourishing, is exactly why we do this work.
Concordia strives to build: students who are not only academically prepared, but who carry with them a sense of belonging and pride in where they came from.
To every alumni and family who made the Seoul gathering so special, thank you. Events like these remind us that Concordia is not just a school. It is a community that spans cities, countries, and decades.
We are already looking forward to the next time we can be together. Until then, carry a piece of Concordia with you, wherever you go.
At Concordia, we use the term “alumni” broadly to include anyone with a lasting connection to our school: graduates, parents of graduates, and all former Concordia parents, students, and faculty.
